Val Cenis Sollières' museum of archaeology

Archeological museum of Val Cenis Sollières Sardières

Val Cenis Sollières' museum of archaeology

The first farmers and cattle breeders of the Neolithic settled in the Balmes cave overlooking Val Cenis Sollières in the Haute Mauirienne valley some 5 600 years ago. The museum exhibits the collection of these first moutains dwellers' daily life artefacts.

The site is a reference of alpine archeology because it brought many elements of understanding of the high valleys occupancy by the first populations of the Neolithic. The artefacts and arts and crafts exhibited in the museum plunge the visitor into the everyday life of these mountain dwellers who kept relationships with their environment that went far beyond mere sustenance.
